Application, letters of recommendation, and official transcripts must be received by March 31, 2024. No exceptions. An incomplete application will be rejected without notice.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Senior in high school
  • Member of the Middle Atlantic District of the AAU in the current AAU membership year (September 1-August 31)

Athletes playing NCAA Division I, II, or III may or may not be eligible for a monetary award. If this occurs, a non-monetary award will be presented. (Questions regarding eligibility for monetary awards should be addressed to your college’s athletic department.)

Members of the review committee do not interview scholarship applicants. Your personal essay is an essential part of the selection process.

Applications require: (1.) the application form, (2.) a personal essay, (3.) 3 letters of recommendation, (4.) a current official high school transcript. Upload documents in Word or PDF Format. Submit by clicking on the link below. Complete each of the following numbered Items:

1. Personal Essay

In writing your essay, consider the committee’s criteria for selection, Including your AAU involvement, athletic accomplishments, academic achievements, community service, leadership qualities, and any extenuating circumstances. Below are some additional prompts that may serve as inspiration to guide your essay. They are simply intended to serve as ideas and are not mandatory.

  • Why do you think you are deserving of the scholarship?
  • What sets you apart from other applicants?
  • How do you exemplify the spirit of the AAU, which embraces the motto, Sports for All Forever?
  • How have athletics and AAU participation positively influenced your life?
  • How have you contributed to your community through service or mentorship, and how has that impacted your life or the life of others?
  • Do you have a coach or mentor who has driven your athletic motivation or success? How have they impacted your life, and what have you learned that will impact your future?

2. Letters of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation is required from each of these areas:
     (1) Athletic
     (1) Academic
     (1) Community Involvement

3. Official or Copy of Current High School Transcript
