Middle Atlantic District AAU Scholarship & Award Programs

Middle Atlantic District was established in 1906 and is one of the earliest districts in the USA. Our district territory includes all of the state of Delaware, southern New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. Membership has grown to over 22,000 youth and adult participants. Since inception our scholarship program has awarded $250,000.

How our scholarship program began…

“As a seasoned educator, I had an idea of creating a scholarship/grant program for members of the Middle Atlantic District to financially support deserving students who have demonstrated academic achievement, athletic ability, leadership skills, and community involvement. In 2006 I had the great fortune of attending the AAU National Convention. During a fortuitous meeting, over cheese and crackers, I shared my thoughts for a scholarship program with Peg Adams, who had already created a similar program in Georgia. Through her insights, resources, and mentorship I was on my way. Next step was to create a working scholarship committee and the journey began.”

Thank you to AAU leaders Peg Adams, Beverly Plunkett, Mike Flynn, Jack Bethke, and Alison Eachus. These individuals played a crucial role in establishing the Middle Atlantic District scholarship and awards program.
